Children's Lantern Parade
Thanksgiving Weekend
The Christmas season begins with a traditional Lantern Parade through the Downtown Historic District. In Germany, the traditional festival of lanterns celebrates the generosity and compassion of Martin of Tours, a German knight who gave half his coat to a beggar. The parade starts and ends at the Clara Eitmann Messmer Amphitheatre at 5th and Gutenberg. Carols and refreshments after the parade.

Historic Hermann's Museum at the German School and German School Bakery

This once-a-year special German Bakery features traditional holiday baked items. Stollen, Lebkuchen, Schnitzbrot, Mondelschnitz, Pfeffernuesse, beautiful Springerle cookies and Wild Persimmon Black Walnut Steamed Puddings. Enjoy music and mulled cider.
